Eric Carney is a VFX Supervisor, Virtual Production Supervisor, and Previs Supervisor.  He has worked for the past 17 years on everything from small commercials to large VFX-driven features to groundbreaking TV shows.  In his various roles, Eric always strives to interpret the vision of the Directors and Producers and serve as an integral part in bridging the gap between creative vision, new technology, and how they are used on-set to film complex VFX shots.

From 2019-2022 Eric served as the Chief Technology Officer at The Third Floor, the company he co-founded.  He was responsible for the direction and strategy of all the Technology at The Third Floor.  This includes The Third Floor’s Virtual Production tools and apps as well as their innovative hybrid Maya/Unreal previs pipeline Mercury.

Eric is adept at solving complex technical challenges and has a solid understanding of everything Virtual Production.  Including working with LED volumes, simulcam, VR, Motion Control, Motion bases, motion capture, and more.   Eric first started working in Virtual Production in 2006 with director Bob Zemekis.  Eric saw firsthand the value of virtual production and has worked to incorporate these technologies and workflows into projects where applicable.

Eric started working in Previs/Postvis in 2004 on Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith.  Eric worked directly with George Lucas to help visualize scenes in the film.
